BOOTHBAY HODGDON ISLAND INN UNDER NEW OWNERSHIP AND FORMER INNKEEPERS PAMELA AND RICHARD RILEY BID FAREWELL

Spring photo by Richard B. RileySince we last communicated spring arrived, Easter came and went, we had a spectacular lunar eclipse and we did indeed sell Hodgdon Island Inn – we have packed up and moved out of the Boothbay Region. Richard and I feel that we have been very lucky through all of these events. The packers came to finish getting us ready to move out on the first day of spring which of course was a very rainy day! And I do mean rainy – it just sheeted! They did a great job and we were all holding our collective breath that the rain would stop for our actual move the following day. It did. It was chilly and windy, but the sun was out and the sky was blue.

Three industrious young men photo by Richard b. RileyThree very industrious young men made short work of getting our belongings packed into crates and loading them onto an eighteen wheeler to take them to a storage facility in Portland, Maine. Richard and I spent the next two days packing those personal belongings that one just has to pack oneself and tidying the inn. Sunday evening we bid our final farewell to HII and headed north to Camden where we have rented a furnished condominium for the next couple of months.

It is a lovely place and we couldn’t be more pleased! We are staying in what’s known as the Bean House (as in shipbuilding, not boot making) and it is directly across the street from the library and the waterfalls in downtown Camden. Once the weather breaks Richard and I are looking forward to exploring all around the Rockland-Rockport-Camden area. Camden Harbor at rest by Richard B. Riley

The search for our new B&B inn in Maine continues and has taken us Down East to Bar Harbor; mid-coast to Belfast, Lincolnville, Camden and Rockland and further south to Bath and Freeport.  It has been fun to look and learn more about other coastal communities in Maine.  Now we’re off to checkout out of state properties.

We’ll keep you posted …
